Meet the Band
Keys / Vocals
I began my musical journey in the 60’s in Ann Arbor. My first gig was playing cello in elementary school, then graduating to bass guitar in high school. But it wasn’t ’til college that I got the rock & roll pneumonia (luckily no boogie woogie flu), playing bass and Fender Rhodes in a band called Four Fifths at MSU. Then I took a 20 year break from playing in a band, but honed my skills in the living room and in the car. Turning 40 sent me over the edge and out of the living room, as the onset of my mid-life crisis hurled me back into the band scene.
Bass Guitar / Vocals
Growing up in a family full of performers, I was surrounded by music throughout my childhood. During High School I helped launched a Rock Band with several of my friends. I performed throughout the West Michigan Area (playing the same venues at that time as MLC guitarist Greg Morris). In 1983 I left the rock scene until 2009 when I decided to pick up the Bass Guitar once again and began playing music that I had enjoyed so much during my earlier years of Rock.
Vocals / Keys
I fell in love with music at church. Music lessons began at age 5 with piano, followed by voice. I was involved in choirs and musicals throughout high school, college, and adulthood. After a major life-change, I took a job as an elementary music teacher and, with the busyness of life, I stepped away from performing. Out of the blue, MLC’s bass player, Tom, suggested I audition. I told him he was crazy!! I’ve never been in a rock band. I’m discovering music that provides a creative outlet that I didn’t even know I was craving. Plus it’s just FUN! I’m blown away by the talent of my band mates and love rocking with them.
Lead Guitar / Vocals
My first actual performance was at the age of 10, nervously playing in front of my Wayland elementary school on an old acoustic I had acquired from my cousin. From there I went on to various rock bands through my high school years and various bands into the 80’s. With marriage and kids occupying most of my time, I dropped out of bands for a while and focused on playing in my home studio. I started playing out again when I joined CoverStory for a few years and am now very excited to be part of the Mid-Life Crisis family. Let’s ROCK!
Music has been in my blood from 3rd grade on when I received my first Drum Kit… playing along to records in the basement until my first band in the 5th grade Talent Show. That being a long time ago I’ve never slowed down playing as this is something I am, not what I do. I’ve played in many style of bands and recorded several records over the years leading to now where getting out to rock is just plain fun. Having a Mid-Life Crisis of this nature suits me just fine…
Lane comes from a background performing in pop-punk, rock and metal bands and has over 15 years of recording experience.
